OTHER CLUBS

Newbury Yacht Club offers our members a warm welcome at their meetings (as we welcome them to ours). They gather on the second Thursday of each month, 7.45 pm, at their meeting place, the Royal British Legion Club, Haig House, Pelican Lane, Newbury RG14 1NP. The hall is in the road behind The Bacon Arms and The Chequers Hotel, fairly close to the Clock Tower.
They always run an interesting programme, and I can vouch for their hospitality to WHCC members. We will keep you posted about their programme as we learn it.

Henley Offshore Group operates at Henley Rugby Club in a similar way to us, but unfortunately often clashes, in that we often both choose the same day-of-the-month. They are welcoming to visitors. For details, contact their Commodore,

Oxford Sailing Club is a very active sailing club based at Farmoor Reservoir near Oxford. They have about 650 member most of whom are dinghy sailors. There is however a growing number of the membership who also cruise in yachts. Indeed, the club now has two 25' cruisers for training and RYA courses are available.

Abbey Sailing Club - probably the closest club to WHCC base in East Hanney, long established club which sails on the Thames near Abingdon.

Dorchester Sailing Club offers a year round racing programme on Sundays and on Wednesday evenings during the summer. The club is a RYA recognised training centre which runs courses for adults and children throughout the year. Last year our new club house was opened providing much improved facilities for sailors and spectators. Individuals are welcome to join at any time and group membership is also available for schools, scouts and similar arganisations.' Their commodore is Patrick Fleming.
